A speech competition titled “Pen is not Silence: Empowering Balochistan through Education” was organized by the Directorate of Student Affairs at Lasbela University of Agriculture, Water, and Marine Sciences (LUAWMS) in collaboration with Scholar Bridge Society.
Students from various departments participated and delivered speeches in both English and Urdu, sharing powerful perspectives on the transformative power of “the pen” and education. The event reinforced the message that education is essential for change and progress in Balochistan, enabling youth to tackle challenges and seize opportunities.
The Vice Chancellor praised both the Directorate of Student Affairs and Scholar Bridge Society for organizing the competition, and congratulated the talented student speakers. He announced that speech competitions will be held every three months to further encourage and develop student skills.
The event was judged by senior LUAWMS and local educators for Urdu and English categories. In English speeches, Muhammad Hussain (Management & Social Sciences) secured first position, Sherbaz (Veterinary & Animal Sciences) second, and Kanza (Marine Sciences) third. For Urdu, Khalil Ahmed (Education) earned first place, Sakina (Engineering Sciences & Technology) second, and Izzatullah (Veterinary & Animal Sciences) third. Shields and certificates were presented to the winners and participants, with the Vice Chancellor also announcing cash prizes for position holders.
