Promoting Climate Smart Agriculture and Agri-Finance

The State Bank of Pakistan, in collaboration with Lasbela University of Agriculture, Water and Marine Sciences (LUAWMS), successfully organized a comprehensive seminar on "Promoting Climate Smart Agriculture and Agri-Finance" specifically designed for farmers of Lasbela District.

This landmark event brought together financial experts, agricultural specialists, and local farming communities to address the critical challenges facing Pakistan's agricultural sector in the context of climate change. The seminar highlighted the important role of agriculture in Pakistan's economic development and showcased LUAWMS's commitment to providing essential resources and support to local farmers.

The seminar featured an impressive lineup of experts including ORIC Director Dr. Javed Meraj, Dr. Ghulam Ali Bugti, and Attaullah Jatak among other distinguished speakers. These experts shared valuable insights on the impact of climate change on agriculture and emphasized the importance of adopting climate-smart agricultural practices to ensure sustainable farming for future generations.

Addressing the seminar participants, Mr. Shahjahan, Regional Manager of National Bank of Pakistan, elaborated on various modes of agricultural financing and facilities available to farmers through banking channels. He highlighted how financial institutions are developing tailored products to meet the specific needs of the agricultural community.

Mudassar Ahmed, Senior Chief Manager, State Bank of Pakistan, expressed gratitude to all participants and the LUAWMS administration for organizing the seminar. He emphasized that this joint effort represents a significant step towards empowering farmers with knowledge and resources to adapt to climate challenges and improve agricultural production through financial inclusion.
