A delegation from the Lasbela University of Agriculture, Water and Marine Sciences (LUAWMS), Pakistan, visited the Southern Marine Science and Engineering Guangdong Laboratory (GML), Guangzhou, China, to explore future collaboration in the fields of Marine and Environmental Sciences.
Discussions focused on enhancing cooperation in scientific research, academic exchange, and capacity-building initiatives. The LUAWMS delegation was led by Prof. Dr. Abdul Malik, Vice Chancellor LUAWMS, while the GML team was headed by Prof. DanLing Tang, Director General of GML. Other notable participants included Prof. Dr. Illahi Bukhsh, Mr. Mujeeb-ur-Rehman, and Prof. Dr. Muhammad Shafi from LUAWMS, alongside Prof. Dr. Xiaobo Yang and Dr. Xiaohui Zhu from GML.
This engagement was facilitated through the dedicated efforts of Dr. Muhsan Ali Kalhoro, whose commitment and initiative were instrumental in connecting the two institutions.
The partnership seeks to advance joint research projects, academic exchange programs, and scholarship opportunities for Pakistani students, with particular emphasis on marine and environmental sciences. This collaboration is expected to significantly strengthen LUAWMS’s research capacity and contribute to addressing critical environmental and marine challenges in the region.
Both institutions reaffirmed their commitment to scientific innovation and academic cooperation. The meeting concluded with a mutual agreement to formalize the collaboration through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the near future, reinforcing the broader framework of China–Pakistan cooperation in higher education and research.
