August 26, 2025 – Uthal: Lasbela University of Agriculture, Water and Marine Sciences (LUAWMS) and the State Bank of Pakistan’s Banking Services Corporation (SBP-BSC) have entered into a landmark partnership by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to advance financial literacy, awareness, and education in key areas of national importance.
The MoU was signed by Prof. Dr. Abdul Malik Tareen, Vice Chancellor of LUAWMS, and Mr. Rizwan Khalil Shams, Chief Manager of SBP-BSC. The collaboration aims to foster long-term cooperation in domains such as Agriculture Financing, the National Financial Literacy Program, Banking on Equality, Digital Financial Services, Islamic Banking, SME Financing, and other financial inclusion initiatives.
The signing ceremony was attended by distinguished faculty members, including Dr. Javed Meraj (Director ORIC), Prof. Dr. Nasrullah Bangulzai (Dean, Faculty of Veterinary and Animal Sciences), Prof. Dr. Taimor Khan (Dean, Faculty of Agriculture), Dr. Azra Bano (Dean, Faculty of Marine Sciences), Prof. Dr. Ahmed Nawaz Khosa (Registrar), and Dr. Sarfaraz Ahmed. Their presence underscored the academic and institutional significance of this collaboration.
Through this MoU, LUAWMS students, faculty, and the wider community will benefit from enhanced financial awareness and skills, empowering them to contribute more effectively to economic development and inclusive growth. The initiative reflects LUAWMS’s commitment to bridging academia with national institutions for the socio-economic uplift of the region.
On the occasion, Mr. Rizwan Khalil Shams, Chief Manager SBP-BSC, also presented a sovereign and framed commemorative coin of Rs. 75, issued by the State Bank of Pakistan, to Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Abdul Malik Tareen, marking the strengthening of this partnership.
