August 12, 2025 – Quetta: The 8th Senate Meeting of Lasbela University of Agriculture, Water and Marine Sciences (LUAWMS) was chaired by Governor Balochistan and Chancellor of LUAWMS Jaffar Khan Mandokhail. In his address, the Chancellor emphasized that effective governance, prudent resource management, and sound decision-making are the hallmarks of a capable administrator—qualities that are essential for guiding a university towards sustained progress and academic excellence.
Governor Balochistan Jaffar Khan Mandokhail highlighted that a strong administrative framework not only ensures the delivery of quality education but also fosters innovation, research, and critical thinking in close partnership with the faculty. He praised the leadership of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Abdul Malik Tareen and his team for their dedicated efforts, urging them to further strengthen LUAWMS’s academic and research profile at both the national and international levels.
Governor Balochistan Jaffar Khan Mandokhail underscored the importance of maintaining transparency in all financial affairs and recommended regular external audits to enhance accountability and build stakeholder trust. He further suggested utilizing the university’s additional land for the cultivation of fruit-bearing trees, creating new income streams while offering students valuable research and hands-on training opportunities. He stressed that appointments and promotions must be strictly merit-based, ensuring equal opportunity for all staff members according to their qualifications and performance.
The meeting was attended by Mr. Saleh Muhammad Baloch (Provincial Secretary of Higher and Technical Education), Mr. Kaleemullah Babar (Principal Secretary to the Governor), Mr. Bashir Kakar (Additional Secretary of Finance), Dr. Zahoor Ahmed Bazai (Representative of the Higher Education Commission), Dr. Illahi Bakhsh Marghzani (Pro-Vice Chancellor), Dr. Faisal Khan (Registrar), and all members of the Senate. The session concluded with several key resolutions aimed at strengthening academic quality, improving administrative efficiency, and ensuring the sustainable growth of LUAWMS.
